Chatel is a charming ski resort based in the Northern French Alps, literally on the border with Switzerland. Chatel is a traditional farming town which has developed into a World class ski resort in the heart of the Portes du Soeil. With over 650km of pistes there is an abundance of skiing for all abilities and the breath-taking scenery will stay with you long after your visit.
At Nine & Tenne we are proud to be Chatel exclusive and have been skiing here for over 25 years. The resort and infrastructure has developed over this time, however the area still retains its Savoyard charm. We love Chatel with it’s unique style and beautiful mountains. We love the fact it’s still relatively undiscovered, we love the local cheese and we love the unlimited ski terrain. So as you can see we are a bit biased and we think it’s a good idea to be impartial when giving advice to people looking to holiday in the area. As such we have put together a few impartial reviews to give you some help and advice when planning your next ski holiday.

Unlike most resorts linked to major ski areas, Châtel remains relatively unspoiled and retains a very French feel, with a life outside tourism, there are still around 30 working farms.

Chatel is arguably the best sector in the PDS. Great variety of pistes, charming village, relaxed atmosphere, excellent restaurants, great for families, beautiful views, good value and only 75 minutes from Geneva. Links well into snow sure Avoriaz. Some great off-piste. Chatel has invested heavily in new lifts and the new link from the village to Linga is fantastic.
