NINE & TENNE is based in Châtel, a charming French Savoyard village that sits right on the border with Switzerland and is only 90 minutes transfer from Geneva airport. Part of the massive Portes du Soleil ski domain with over 650 km of pistes in both France and Switzerland, Châtel offers access to a fantastic variety of skiing for all abilities.

Châtel’s agricultural traditions are still very much alive, with over sixty active cattle farms in the area producing local cheeses such as Tomme, Abondance and Reblochon. Over the years Châtel has developed into one of the best ski resorts in Europe without losing any of its charm and beauty. And after a day on the slopes there are plenty of restaurants, shops and bars in the village ideal for some retail therapy or après-ski.

Châtel is an ideal resort for beginners with various ski areas to choose from and fast access to the pistes. ‘Super Châtel’ is located just above the town and offers a huge selection of easy green and blue runs from a mix of chair lifts and easy drags. The ‘Pre La Joux’ area also offers lots of learner slopes including the ‘Bellete’ green run - a 3km path that zig-zags through the forest, providing a picturesque run of decent length for beginners.

Right at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Châtel has so much to offer for intermediates and also enjoys easy access to neighbouring resorts such as Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets. Choose from the 650km of pistes in the Portes du Soleil, from pretty tree lined runs to wide, open pistes that take you travelling on a different route every day. We highly recommend ‘the circuit’ which is a great day skiing easy reds and cruisy blues through 7 resorts and two countries.

Châtel and the Portes du Soleil are great for snowboarding with many designated jump parks, boardercross runs and freestyle areas, as well as limitless off piste – from cruisey powder bowls to narrow couloirs. Also growing in popularity in the area is split boarding – enabling boarders to reach some amazing backcountry and challenging descents.

Steep couloirs, large powder bowls, jump parks and some challenging mogul runs - Châtel offers some of the best off piste skiing in the Porte du Soleil. No matter how hard you want to go, you won’t be disappointed. At NINE & TENNE we also work with the best high mountain guides and instructors in the area who can show you the best places to ski and help you take your skiing to the next level.

For non-skiers the area has plenty more to offer such as cross-country tracks, fantastic snowshoe walking, ice skating and even husky rides. Further afield you'll find a choice of relaxing thermal spas and the NINE & TENNE team will be happy to arrange massage or beauty treatments for you at your chalet. Châtel itself is a pretty alpine village with shops, restaurants and other attractions for non-skiers.
